Dr. Diana Wangari, 2019-20 MBA candidate and Skoll Scholar, has been recognised in Management Today’s 35 under 35.

The annual awards were setup in 2000 with the purpose of highlighting the contributions of Britain’s young businesswomen.

Management Today praised Diana, who was also recognised in Forbes 30 under 30 2019, as the ‘embodiment of a business leader with purpose.’

Diana states that she was ‘in shock’ when she heard she had been selected for the award.

‘The list contains some of Britain’s most talented young businesswomen and to be among them is actually quite humbling,’ she said.

Diana is a co-founder of Lens Africa Fund, an investment platform that supports women-led companies, products and services, and advocates for more women in C-suite positions.

‘A report by McKinsey Global Institute, The Power of Parity says that Africa would take an average of 142 years to reach gender parity at the current pace, and as a young African female CEO, I want to change that,’ explained Diana.

Alongside Oxford MBA alumnus Nick Andreou, Diana has also co-founded a community medicine distribution platform for patients with chronic diseases. The platform, named MedBoda, seeks to reinforce patient support groups negotiating power for medical supplies.

Prior to founding Lens Africa Fund and MedBoda, Wangari was co-founder and CEO of Checkups Medical Centre in Kenya, a rapid outpatient diagnostic and treatment centre. She is also the co-founder of Sagitarix Limited, a health technology company that developed ZiDi, a health management information system used across six African Countries.

‘The Oxford MBA has been one of the most impactful experiences in my life,’ said Diana. ‘The faculty, the staff and student community are truly one of the most diverse I have come across and because of that, each day is a new lesson.’
