3 Minutes, 1 Slide…..Your Thesis! An 80,000 word thesis would take 9 hours to present; would you be able to explain yours in just 3 Minutes? The 3MT® challenges doctoral candidates to present a compelling spoken presentation on their research topic and its significance in just three minutes.
The University of Oxford 3MT® final will see the winners of the divisional heats compete to win the overall University competition and be entered into the national 3MT® semi-final. Come along and cheer them on. The event will kick-off with a short keynote from David Pyle, Professor of Earth Sciences, on the importance of engaging the public in research before the 8 finalists present their 3MTs. David is a volcanologist with a passion for public engagement; among other things he is the academic lead for Oxford Sparks http://www.oxfordsparks.ox.ac.uk), and is involved with London Volcano (http://www.londonvolcano.com) and volcanoes Top Trumps (http://www.volcanoestoptrumps.org). This is an exciting chance to see fellow researchers communicating their research and battling to become the University winner! The event will be followed by a wine reception.
