“The Big Issue” is one of the UK’s best known social enterprises. Its mission is to provide “A Hand Up, Not a Hand Out” to homeless and vulnerably homed people in the UK. It has spawned similar business in over 70 countries worldwide. This lecture is a test of a new case study written and presented by John Gilligan (Director of Oxford Said Finance lab and Non-Exec Director of Big Issue Invest) and colleagues. It covers the lessons learned in the early days of the formation of The Big Issue Group.
The interactive session will be of interest to those interested in the practical issues involved in forming a start-up business with limited resources and those interested in social entrepreneurship.
The session will last 2-3 hours.
