Timetable: Saturday: 10am-6pm (talks) or til 11pm (social); Sunday: 10am-4pm. Hope to see you there! ============================== Tech Tactics for Social Change ============================== Technology is all around us. It pervades our work, our play, and our personal lives. It is the vehicle for our voices, our desires, our hopes, our ideas, our outrage. Our spiritual, social, and metaphysical selves exist inside it. The digital age is both emancipating and enslaving; both a liberation and a burden. It has given us freedom to communicate our ideas and also made it harder to communicate them freely without being monitored. It is our best hope and our worst nightmare. Through two days of talks at Oxford Hackspace in October this year we will: – Exchange ideas about what living in the digital age means for all of us, for those on the margins, and for those who campaign and work to help them – Look at what is needed and ways to solve those needs through tools and practices – Explore how we can work together to make our ideas and dreams a reality We are focussing on five key areas for discussion: > Gender > Refugee solidarity > Housing & homelessness > Ecological sustainability > Avoiding personal burnout We already have confirmed speakers from Refugee Resource, Transition By Design, Homeless Hack, XtreamLab, OpenStreetMap, CowleyRoad.org, and New Internationalist.
Full programme to be announced shortly. If you or your organisation works in any of the above areas, or if you work in digital technologies and think you can help with such organising, do get in touch. We are currently putting the programme for the two days together and asking for sessions of up to 45 minutes in the form of a presentation/talk, facilitated discussion, demonstration, show and tell, group activity, or simple workshop. If you would like to present please contact us. Please go here to read more: https://techtacticsforsocialchange.uk/
And if you wish to attend or give a talk/workshop, please RSVP YES on this meetup and then also sign up here: https://signup.techtacticsforsocialchange.uk/
