Social Saturday is an annual campaign which inspires consumers to buy from social enterprises, businesses that put people and planet first. It is a chance for social enterprises to shout out loud about the fantastic work they do by putting on events, opening their doors and inviting their local politicians to find out more about their organisations and the impact they’re having in their communities.
The first Social Saturday in 2014 had cross-party support and was backed by the Prime Minister, David Cameron. Successive campaigns have reached consumers, businesses, public bodies and MPs throughout the UK, drawing attention to the benefits of buying social. Social enterprises are making a difference in our community and around the world, set up to trade for a social purpose and using business to create a more equal society. They are creating jobs where they’re needed most and tackling some of the biggest challenges we face from homelessness to climate change. They are changing the way we do business and you can support them.Social Saturday is about championing these businesses.
Enterprising Oxford are running an online showcase of social enterprise for Social Saturday. If you are have any people, events, stories or ideas to include in the showcase, or if you are interested in running an event either on the day or in the week leading up to Social Saturday please let us know, so we can feature it.
