Playable City is a global initiative that transforms the city into a place of unexpected interaction. And in doing so creates a conversation about our smart cities of the future.
Smart Oxford will partner with Playable City during 2017 to deliver a flagship project that raises Smart Oxford’s profile and helps people understand the opportunities and benefits that can be achieved through the Internet of Things (IoT) and the combination of technology, data and communities – a project that will catch the imagination of all who live, visit and work in and around the city.
You’re invited to take part in a workshop to explore the specific Oxford experience, the work of Smart Oxford and the potential for a culture led public project looking at the future city – one that is open, inclusive, accessible and engaging. The workshop will contribute to the definition of the parameters for an open competition call; seeking ideas, rooted in the Oxford landscape, combining technology and creativity to achieve purposeful interventions which make people think differently about their city. The workshop will take place at The Story Museum with 30 invited participants. You will be part of a diverse group of people – from artists to city government officials, designers to social enterprises, academics to technologists – to share with us your understanding of what kind of city Oxford is and needs to be.
