The goal of this session is to introduce the Fintech ecosystem, and to understand how it is impacting traditional finance. The speakers will share their insights from working both with startups and incumbents, and discuss their views about the future of finance.

Anna Irrera, Finanical News, Dow Jones Anna Irrera is a journalist at Financial News, a Dow Jones newspaper in London, where she covers fintech and market structure. Anna played a key role in the publication's growing focus on the emerging fintech sector and the impact of new digital technologies on traditional financial institutions. She worked on launch of quarterly fintech-focused publication and a dedicated section on Financial News's website. She also compiles the annual Fintech40 powerlist. She joined Dow Jones in 2012 as an online reporter for Financial News, having moved to the UK from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where she was a trainee with Thomson Reuters, working for the English language newswire service. She holds M.S. degree (with honors) from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York and a graduate degree in law from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan.

Huy Nguyen Trieu After graduating from MIT, Huy Nguyen Trieu started as an entrepreneur and founded Ukibi, a VC-funded startup in New York. He experienced the Internet bubble – on the way up and down -, raised $15m and grew the company from 3 to 50 people. He then moved to London where he fell – by coincidence – into banking. As a banker, he has been an intra-preneur and built very successful businesses. As an ex-entrepreneur, he is still very much involved with startups, in particular in the Fintech area. He writes about innovation in finance at Disruptive Finance, mentors entrepreneurs, and is on the Fintech advisory board of the World Economic Forum, Fintech HK and Trusting Social. He is also a Resident Expert at Oxford Said Business School.

John Egan, Director at Anthemis Group SA John is an economist, entrepreneur and thought leader focused on strategic innovation in finance. Previously, John founded and sold engineering and finance businesses, earning multiple entrepreneurship awards including Emerging Entrepreneur of the year and European Impact Entrepreneur of the Year. Prior to his current role at Anthemis, he was the Head of Innovation at Lafferty Group and preceding that he was the CEO of Swiss Network Technology firm Sandbox. He currently sits on the University College Dublin Innovation Academy Board of Studies, whilst also being faculty at the International Academy of Retail Banking. He has authored or contributed to numerous books, white papers and reports on innovation theory, economics and the future of retail finance published by Harriman House, Gill & McMillan and Lafferty.

Warren Mead, Partner, Global Co-Head of Fintech, KPMG Warren is KPMG’s global Co-lead for Fintech. KPMG has hubs in all major Fintechlocations and acts as the bridge between the innovators and the incumbents. In the last few years he has advised many of the key players in the sector including numerous transactions and IPOs. Warren is a regular speaker on this topic and has published several white papers.
