Confessions of an Entrepreneur is a guest speaker series from the Oxford Launchpad and the Careers Service, designed to help you get an insight into the mindset of current entrepreneurs. You’ll learn tips, tricks – and the highs and lows of being an entrepreneur, or entrepreneurial. Since her first job at Oxfam, Isabel’s career has focused on social justice and finding ways to make significant impact in the world, using the resources of both the nonprofit and corporate worlds. She is the Founder & Principal Consultant at Profit with Purpose, offering consulting services to corporations wanting to use their resources for good and to embed social impact goals into their business. Her first client was global software company Sage Group. Isabel is also an Associate Consultant with Alstonia in Bombay, helping Indian businesses to comply with the requirements of the Companies Act 2013 to spend 2% of profit on corporate social responsibility. In September 2015 she became a Practitioner in Residence at the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship. From 2002 to 2014 Isabel was at Foundation initially establishing the Foundation’s model of philanthropy for Europe, Middle East & Africa. She became International Director with a team around the world giving technology, employee time and grants, sustained through discounted sales to nonprofit & education organisations. From 1990 to 2001 Isabel was the East Asia Campaigner at Amnesty International, joining just after the 1989 pro-democracy events in Tiananmen Square, and going on to focus on human rights violations against religious minorities including those in Tibet, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia. She currently holds Board positions at two social enterprises, Economic Change and NESsT.
