What on Earth (pun intended) is the Circular Economy?
If you want to learn more about sustainability and business as a force for good, come join us on Monday, 29 October from 5-7pm in the Clore Lecture Room. Nibbles and some special circular economy ’tasters’ will be available. Charmian Love, Entrepreneur in Residence at the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship and Chair of B Lab UK, will conduct a taster lecture on the alternative to the take-make-waste model of business as well as discuss some key trends and career trajectories in this exciting area. Charmian will be joined by Natalia Agathou (bio below) from Advance London at London Waste and Recycling Board (LWARB) – an organisation that is embracing the Circular Economy through their London Circular Econmy Route Map. Natalia Agathou: Natalia has set-up and manages the Advance London Advisory programme for SMEs for the London Waste and Recycling Board since 2017. Currently managing a team of six advisors working with 110 London based SMEs to promote circularity and new business models. Previously she worked for 8 years as an Environmental Advisor, specialising in sustainable businesses and green finance in emerging economies. She has helped businesses develop sustainability strategies and resource efficient business plans. Her entrepreneurship guide on ‘How to start your waste/sanitation business’ has been used in more than ten countries. She has designed waste collection and delivery plans for municipalities across Europe and Africa and has analysed and restructured internal processes for organisations in the retail, packaging, banking, textiles, recycling and sanitary sectors. International clients have included Philips, IFCO Systems S.A., Textile Enterprises, IBM, the World Bank, the EU, the UNDP, Water.org and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
