How the Department for Work and Pensions is transforming to stay ahead in the world of tech The Department for Work & Pensions is the biggest Government Department, and its central goal? To support people to lift themselves out of poverty and stay that way. We want your help to accelerate our ability to do so by building and delivering efficient digital platforms designed with user needs at their heart. Our services will touch almost every UK citizen at some point in their lives, from protecting the foundations of every child’s life, by encouraging work – and making it pay, enabling independence for those with disabilities and ill-health to promoting firm foundations for retirement. In delivering this huge responsibility, our systems process payments in the region of £167.6 billion per year which gives us as many similarities with a Fin-Tech firm as it does a governmental department. Our technologists are at the beating heart of tech in Europe, working on some of the fastest paced Big-Data projects happening today. If you are interested in working on huge platforms that will support the day to day lives of over 22 million people, whilst at the same time developing a skill set that encompasses development, security, data modelling, analytics and visualisation then this could be the opportunity for you. We know that students who are passionate about technology want more than just a job, they want to be pushed, they want to sink their teeth into the most challenging briefs, and we think that you are uniquely equipped to do so. We are one of the biggest players in this space, but you may not have heard of us because we don't shout as loudly as the rest, but that's because what we do is bigger than a social network, our purpose is to support some of the most vulnerable people in society and to change futures – and we need your help to do it. We are sending our top people to show you more about what we do and how you can get involved, we can't wait to bring in the new recruits. DWP_Web We are looking to bring on board the brightest talent in digital technology. It could be you.
