"Certainly Oxford is no good aire" Anthony Wood (C.17th historian and writer)
The air pollution problems in Oxford are widely recognised and are severe for a city of this size. But many people are not clear on how bad the problem is, nor on what can be done about it. Air Pollution in Oxford: towards solutions will be a unique event that will put Oxford’s air in the context of health impacts, transport and planning issues, and the future development of Oxford. It will look to draw out what experts in all these fields see as solutions to the problem with speakers from the Universities, health sector, local council and other agencies. The event will be in two parts: Understanding the problems Towards solutions Understanding the problems will offer all participants an overview of the current situation. Towards Solutions will focus on both long-term and more immediate solutions. It will look at planning and transport issues and on how combined local action across disciplines and sectors can have a real impact. There will be workshops on national and local policy, on community action and on ‘citizen science’ activity. This event is free but advance booking is essential.
Organised by Oxford Friends of the Earth in association with Agile-Ox.
