This event runs across the entire weekend, From 1.00pm on Friday 8th – 8pm on Sunday 10th. With a pitch evening on Tuesday 12th. The event comprises of: Skills workshops, Panel discussion and a team forming mixer on Friday 8th February (1.00-9.00pm)
two full days of creative problem solving in teams on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th February (9am till 8pm both days)
and a pitch event on Tuesday 12th February, where teams will present their solutions (6.30-8.00pm)
WHAT'S INVOLVED? Friday 8th February 13.00-21.00pm: Networking lunch (1-2pm)- Come and meet your fellow students get fuelled for the weekend with lunch provided by the Foundry. Start off by skilling up (2.-4.30pm) For starters, we're offering 2 introductory skills-based workshops. These are both aimed at skilling you up on the basics of both the business and the tech side of A.I. and its applications, which will give you the practical tools you need to participate in the AI Impact Weekend – you MUST attend these workshops for the best chance of winning! *Participants need no previous knowledge of A.I. to join*. A.I. In people selection: the holy grail, or doomed to fail? (5-6.30pm) The workshops will be followed by a panel discussion: “A.I in people selection: the holy grail, or doomed to fail?". A panel of experts from academia, industry and journalism will address fundamental questions on the use of A.I. in people selection to build your knowledge on the topic. TEAM UP! at the pre-event mixer and happy hour (6-7.30pm)
This is your chance to form your team! Come along for a drink and mingle and hear students pitch some of the ideas that you might work on over the course of the weekend. By the end of the evening, you'll have been put into teams of 3-5 people, and will be ready to go for the next stage…
Saturday 9th February – Sunday 10th February: GET CREATING! A weekend of Solution Building, supported by specialist mentors! You'll spend two days working in mixed teams of 3-5 people, using your collective skills and the data and materials provided to create an A.I.-based solution. Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided to fuel your creative drive, and there will be plenty of coffee too! Post event happy hour (6.30-8pm, Sunday 10th)
Tuesday 12th February: Time to PITCH! (6-9.30pm) The whole experience wraps up with an exciting pitch event, where your teams will present your A.I.-based solution to an audience of peers and professionals, and the expert panel makes a judgement on whose proposal is the strongest.
THE PRIZES! The team with the best solution overall will win a week-long trip to California's Palm Springs, where they'll have an amazing experience, attending the EY Strategic Growth Forum. The team with the best technical solution will win a £500 cash prize. The team whose solution has the strongest non-tech solution – including the consideration of the idea's business case, and its societal considerations (e.g. ethical, regulatory and political), as outlined in the judging criteria – will win a £500 cash prize.
