Are you a student or young professional working in healthcare or planning to work in healthcare innovation?

Join TheHIll for a day of online workshops and panel discussions with entrepreneurial women in the Oxford innovation ecosystem.

9:00am – 9:30am Registration

9:30am – 10:00am         Welcome and introductions from Megan Morys-Carter, Director of TheHill and Diversity lessons from the Oxford ecosystem with Nesrine Ramadan

10:00am – 11:00am       Elevator pitches workshop with Megan Morys Carter and pitch practice breakout sessions.

11:30am – 12:30  Healthcare Masterclass with Dr Jackie Hunter.

Speaker biographies

 

Dr Jackie Hunter is a Board Director of Benevolent AI. Jackie has over thirty years of experience in the bioscience research sector, working across academia and industry including leading neurology and gastrointestinal drug discovery and early clinical development for GlaxoSmithKline. She founded OI Pharma Partners in 2010 and most recently was Chief Executive of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. She holds a personal chair from St George’s Hospital Medical School and in 2010 she was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for Services to the Pharmaceutical Industry.

 

Dr Nessa Carey has had successful careers in academia, biotech and pharma and now freelances as a trainer and an innovation consultant. She has served and chaired on a number of Research Councils schemes over the last decade. Nessa is a Royal Society Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the University of Oxford and the author of 3popular science books.

 

Husayn Kassai is the Onfido Co-Founder and CEO, World Economic Forum “Tech Pioneer”, Forbes Contributor & “30 Under 30”. He has a BA in Economics and Management, Oxford University. Founded in 2012, Onfido has grown to a team of 400; received over £200m in funding; and works with over 1,500 fintech, banking and marketplace clients globally.

 

Dr Mehak Mumtak is a Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer at iLoF and leads strategic development and commercial/research partnerships. Prior to joining iLoF, Mehak was a strategy consultant for EY Parthenon. Mehak is passionate about translating science from bench to bedside, and was previously involved in managing a €1.5m innovation project on Rare Cancers. Mehak has a MBioChem andDPhil in Pathology from University of Oxford and was an Innovation Fellow at the Said Business School.

 

Nesrine Ramadan is a biomedical research scientist and an enterprise &innovation fellow at the University of Oxford. Nesrine has international experience in research and strategy consultancy and is involved in various D&I initiatives aimed at enhancing the participation of underrepresented groups in leadership, entrepreneurship, innovation, and policy making.

 

Dr Deborah Spencer is responsible for developing activities under the Industrial Strategy across the University of Oxford and is Deputy Head of the Industrial Research Partnership Team. She previously worked at the Oxford Local Enterprise Partnership, at the Universities of Edinburgh and Dundee, and for the UK Research Councils. Deborah has been involved in three company spinouts and the creation of two fee- for- service entities from the university base.
