“At Wilbe, we are bound by the mission to help entrepreneurial scientists commercialise their research and build businesses that fix the world’s biggest problems. We do this by finding founders early, help them frame a vision, draw a product roadmap, validate the market and provide the needed business support: legal, finance, design, marketing, recruitment for the first 12 months. We help scientists turn their prototypes into businesses and bring on board the right funding and investors for the venture.”
A former corporate solicitor turned venture operator turned early-stage investor. In 2014 Alessandro left his law firm to set up Wilbe, initially in the shape of a legal and strategy advisory firm for early stage innovative companies. Having helped over 40 frontier tech companies and with operational support in strong demand, in 2017 he came up with a sweat-for-equity model, offering his work to selected high-growth technology ventures in exchange for pure equity leading to the founding of Wilbe Ventures. In 2019 alongside a stellar team of industry experts he founded Wilbe Science aimed at helping and investing in researchers from leading academic hubs with a focus on healthcare, sustainability and security.
Corporate solicitor by training, worked at Thomas Eggar LLP (now Irwin Mitchell) focusing on tech and VC clients and as in-house counsel at Sorin Group (now Livanova Plc), a company at the forefront of medical devices innovation listed on NASDAQ. Keen researcher, academically he specialised in environmental law and the use of carbon credits and eco-labelling to reduce global emissions, drafting policy pieces including for COP15 in Copenhagen. Obsessed about equality and accessibility, he is a proud Business Champion at Disability Rights UK. Avid sailor, clumsy surfer and RATM fan.
