StEP Ignite is a Student Entrepreneurship Programme that brings teams of entrepreneurial students together to develop innovative business ideas based upon University of Oxford research. At the end of the programme, all teams will pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges who will select a winner.
The winning team receives a cash prize of £25,000 to support the creation of a new company, a generous portion of the founding equity and a roadmap to pitch for further investment. Other teams who wish to continue with their business idea after the programme has ended will be supported by the OUI incubator programme

Have you ever wondered if you have what it takes? If you have the spark?
StEP Ignite is for any student who wants to see if they have what it takes to be an entrepreneur. We’ll give you the opportunity to develop your skills with real technologies, ideas and IP and train and support you with loads of input from people who have been there and done it for real. There’s no need to be an expert in anything, no prior training needed, and no minimum experience level required. It’s a unique chance to give it a try. No risks and lots of rewards. When you finish the programme you’ll have a load of expertise, a ton of training and a bucket load of experience to add to your CV. And who knows – you might even have created the next exciting new start-up!

Full eligibility requirements are below:
Only current University of Oxford student members (fully matriculated students) are eligible to join the programme. Applicants may not be employees of the University.
Applicants may not be a member of the originating team of the project they choose to work with.
D.Phil students must secure the approval of their supervisor prior to submission.

And in case you’re wondering what it costs? It doesn’t! It’s fully funded and, better still, there is a stipend of £1,500 to cover living costs.

StEP Ignite is brought to you through a collaboration between Oxford University Innovation (OUI), Oxford Science Enterprises and The Oxford Foundry.

Applications close 14 March, 2022.
