Social Enterprise Awards

Oxford Hub is delighted to work with the University of Oxford’s Research Services to offer Oxford University staff and students the Social Enterprise Awards, helping members of the University to test their ideas and start up social impact projects that benefit the Oxford Community.

Applications for 2022’s Social Enterprise Awards are officially open! The deadline for the summer round of Awards is Friday 3rd June (Trinity Term week 6). Find the application document here, and be sure to read through the Application Guidance document before submitting.

In addition, we continue to support our SE Awards alumni, and seek to grow the community of enterprising individuals through our other schemes, such as the Social Action Labs.

The awards have enabled individuals and teams to take action and make the world a better place. Since 2013, we have supported over 40 different ventures through the Social Enterprise Awards – from a community cafe to a soap recycling enterprise. You can find examples of previous award winners below, as well as plenty of in depth case studies on Enterprising Oxford’s website and our blog.

Through the Award Scheme we offered social entrepreneurs:

Funding: depending on the type of proposal, we offered two types of funding – a Try It award of up to £500 and a Do It Award of up to £1000. To apply for a Do It Award, applicants had to consider how their proposal would become financially self-sustaining, typically demonstrated in a business plan submitted alongside the application.

Support: including AWS credits, check ins with staff, introductions to our network, free publicity and room hire at our home on Little Clarendon Street.

Community: the opportunity to join a community of ambitious individuals tackling social and environmental issues in Oxford, whether through social enterprise, placements, or volunteering. Find us at speaker panels, socials, fundraisers and more – stay up to date with our latest events by subscribing to our newsletter and liking us on Facebook.

For more information on eligibility, criteria, the difference between Do It and Try It awards, and submitting a good application, see the Application Guidance.
