Skoll Chat Series: A Conversation with Pip Wheaton

About this Event

A conversation with Pip Wheaton.

Programme Manager for Social Ventures, Chris Blues engages in a deep conversation with Ashoka’s European Venture Director, Pip Wheaton.

The ‘Skoll Chat’ series hosted by the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship brings together experts, scholars and practitioners to engage in a conversation around what motivates, facilitates and sustains change. Guests will speak on what led them to their work or calling, reflect on their journeys and offer insight on what is needed in our challenging times.

Pip Wheaton currently leads the team finding Ashoka Fellows across Europe, and co-leads Ashoka’s Planet & Climate team, a new team which is deploying Ashoka’s network for collective climate action. The three issues that are most likely to get her fired up are climate breakdown, inequality, and gender. Pip is also a Visiting Fellow at the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.

Pip spent nearly 7 years in South Africa, where she founded a youth-development organisation – enke: Make Your Mark. The organisation recently celebrated it’s 11th birthday and is going from strength to strength since Pip left. After six years as enke’s CEO, she handed over the reigns to study her Oxford MBA. She fully intended to go back, but life happened, and Oxford is a very beautiful place to end up instead.

For her work in social innovation she’s been awarded a Skoll Scholarship, an Ashoka Fellowship; and she was a World Economic Forum Global Shaper in Johannesburg.
