Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellowships are awarded to innovative, creative entrepreneurial engineers who have demonstrated an exceptional innovation in engineering that they want to develop further. Once on the programme, we focus on equipping the awardee with the confidence, skills, experience, and network of expert advisors necessary to enable them to develop themselves and their innovation.

We support three types of individuals through our Enterprise Fellowships;

– researchers wishing to spinout a company from a university,
– recent graduates wishing to create a company,
– current and recent international PhD students based in the UK, wishing to spin out or startup.

This programme is now open
Stage 1 application deadline: 4pm, Monday 28 February 2022
Stage 2 application deadline: 4pm, Monday 4 April 2022
There are two stages to the application process. Both must be completed before an application can be assessed by the Selection Panel.

Stage 1
In Stage 1, you briefly tell us about yourself and your idea. It will take about 30 minutes to complete. If you are eligible for the programme and your idea is suitable for the type of the support we offer and you are a good fit for the programme, then we will invite you to complete a stage 2 application.

Stage 1 does not consider how good the idea is, but whether it fits within the criteria and aims of the programme.

Stage 2
The Stage 2 application is more detailed and will consider how good the idea is, and your potential to lead a start-up. You will need to provide more information about yourself, the team, the technology and the business model. This part of the application will be reviewed by a panel of experts, and if successful you will be invited to interview.

How to apply
All applications must be submitted through our online application system. For more details please see the guidance notes below and the frequently asked questions page, link to the left. Applicants who have not previously applied for an impact oriented grant may also wish to read the additional guidance notes, which provide hints and tips on how to answer the questions and common mistakes to avoid.

If you have any questions please email the Enterprise team.
