For pre-start and start-ups, this bootcamp is designed for individuals to focus on the fundamentals of business success.

Each session will be delivered by one of our experienced business experts, providing practical content to help you learn and make progress on the day, alongside a group of supportive peers.

You will finish the day with a clear plan on how to move your business forward and reach your next milestone.

Agenda:
9:00 Registration and tea / coffee

9:30 Planning your business – Business Model Canvas In this first session Lesley McKie, Director at Positively Media and long-term supporter of small businesses and businesses with purpose, will introduce the Business Model Canvas – a great tool to help you create your first business plan on one page! Completing your own Business Model Canvas will also help you to refine the business idea, especially the ‘value proposition’.

11:00 Setting up your business – structure and taxes Knowing the best way to turn your business idea into reality is the first step to starting a lucrative side hustle or creating a break-through brand. But in order for a new venture to succeed there are some key decisions prospective business owners must make early on in the process. In this talk, Matt Williams, MD and founder of Cypher outlines how to set off a new start-up business on the right track.

12:15 Lunch

13:00 Using Social media to win your first customers – Social media can feel overwhelming at first. However, done well, your social media presence can be used to grow your business and reach customers you didn’t know existed. The UK’s No.1 Social Selling Training & Consulting Company – Maverrik, will give you a comprehensive understanding of how you can use social media to build awareness, credibility and revenue for your business.

14:30 Business planning for growth – An interactive session to explore deliverability and viability of your plans for growth. Growth in a business rarely just happens. In this session Paul Holmes, Director of PCH Business Support, will help you consider all aspects of the business to plan growth, understand what’s required, plan cashflow and investment, what equipment, people, resources you will need and help to design your business to cope with all the pitfalls growth can bring.

16:00 Close but… It doesn’t end there: All attendees will also be offered a 1:1 session with a business advisor of their choice in March.

This programme is perfect for individuals who are thinking of starting their own business, or businesses who are looking for some help with developing their early-stage business or pivoting their plans.
