This webinar will look at how Oxfordshire charities can better reflect their diverse communities.
About this Event
Despite the stereotypes, Oxfordshire (and particularly Oxford) is a more diverse place than we may realise. Nonetheless, some groups, such as people from BAME backgrounds, are under-represented amongst charity leadership, and may not benefit from proportionate amounts of funding into their communities. This webinar will explore some of the issues behind this, and look at how infrastructure organisations and funders can make efforts to redress the balance.
Agenda:
- Welcome – Adrian Sell, CEO at Oxfordshire Community Foundation
- Spotlight on equality, diversity and inclusion – Vanisha Palmer, EDI Consultant with experience across sectors both nationally and in Oxfordshire
- Making a difference – Jacqui Gitau, Director at African Families in the UK and Chair of the Oxfordshire BAME Infrastructure Group; Yasmin Kaduji, Coordinator at Banbury Mosque; and a trustee from Cowley Road Works, which has 50% global representation on its board
- Supporting the change – Sara Fernandez, CEO at Oxford Hub, on the launch of a new EDI Framework for Oxfordshire
- Over to you: Q&A
