A panel discussion with social-impact organisations in Oxfordshire, to find out what they are doing to navigate through the COVID-19 crisis.

About this Event

This panel discussion will hear from the heads of four social-impact organisations and businesses in Oxfordshire, to find out what they are doing to navigate through the Coronavirus crisis.

The discussion will cover:
Personal resilience
How to manage and motivate your team
How to adapt and innovate
Planning for the future

Who is it for?

This workshop is aimed at SMEs that are Social Enterprises, social entrepreneurs, enterprising charities and other purposeful businesses committed to enabling positive social and environmental impact.

The Panel

The speakers will share their personal experiences, and provide advice and ideas on how to survive during turbulent times.

Richard Kennell, founder & CEO – SOFEA

Richard founded SOFEA in 2014, having run a small business for the previous 8 years. He has a background in local schools as a former Deputy Headteacher. He is a member of a number of local groups including the Charity Leaders’ Forum and the Oxfordshire Skills Board.

SOFEA has a dual social mission – educating disadvantaged young people and providing surplus food to more than 150 not for profit organisations.

It has reacted quickly to the COVID-19 crisis, and is currently distributinh 3,000 food parcels a week to vulnerable individuals and familis through its network of Community Larders.

Jodie Lloyd-Jones, CEO – Oxfordshire Youth

Jodie became CEO of Oxfordshire Youth in 2014. Before that she worked with charities including Stonewall and Raleigh International.

Oxfordshire Youth is the leading organisation for the youth sector in Oxfordshire. It’s aim is to empower young people through a programme of informal education and youth work programmes, reaching more than 26,000 young people each year.

Paul Humpherson, co-founder – Tap Social Movement

As well as co-founder of the Tap Social Movement, Paul a practicing criminal barrister and visiting fellow in law and criminology at the University of Oxford.

Started in 2016, Tap is an award-winning craft brewery, events and hospitality business, which grew out of a passion for great beer and social justice. It provides training and employment to people serving and recently released from prison sentences to assist in effective rehabilitation and seeks to champion the cause of inclusive employment in the hospitality industry.

Renee Watson, founder – The Curiosity Box

Renee is the Founder and Head of Explosions at The Curiosity Box. Having discovered a love of science early in life, Renee has been on a mission to make Science, Tech, Engineering and Maths (STEM) awesome and accessible to ALL children. She established her first company, WATS.ON in 2008 and in 2016 launched The Curiosity Box, the UK’s first STEM subscription box.

Renee delivered a TEDx talk in 2019 called ‘Is curiosity the secret to a wonder-filled life‘.
