Join us on Thursday, May 5th at 1230pm UK time for a discussion on how CRISPR is revolutionising biotechnology and medicine. The Nobel prize winning CRISPR-Cas technology is a unique gene editing system. Originally discovered in bacteria as an adaptive immune system where it allows bacterial defense from invading viruses, CRISPR-Cas can be described as an efficient and highly precise molecular scissor able to bind, cut and paste specific DNA sequences. Over the past 15 years this technology has been further engineered and developed by scientists into an innovative genome editing tool and nucleic acid detection system that now most research labs and biotech companies use.
We will host a panel of three young startups, Ochre Bio, Scope Biosciences and Hudson River Biotechnology to talk about the innovation that this technology brings in different fields, such as therapeutic, diagnostics and genetic engineering, the advantages that CRISPR has compared to previous technologies, its biggest hurdles and its future.
