Join us for a Founder Fireside Chat with Next door CEO, Sarah Friar, to celebrate International Women’s Day
As part of International Women’s Day, Barclays Eagle Labs are putting on a series of events to celebrate Female Founders and Women in Business within our networks.
Join us as Adrian Doran, Head of Corporate Banking in Northern Ireland interviews the incredible Sarah Friar to hear all about the highs and lows of her journey to become CEO of Next door, and all the exciting adventures she has had in between.
Sarah Friar:
Sarah Friar is CEO of Nextdoor, the neighbourhood app, and has been called “one of the most powerful women in the Silicon Valley tech scene”. Prior to Next door, Sarah served as CFO at Square, the mobile payment company founded by Jack Dorsey. Under Sarah’s leadership, Square launched its IPO in 2015 and added over $30Bn in market cap.
Before her tenure at Square, Sarah served as Senior Vice President of Finance & Strategy at Salesforce. Sarah also held executive roles at Goldman Sachs, as well as leadership positions at McKinsey in both London and South Africa. Sarah sits on the boards of the world’s largest retailer Walmart, and messaging firm Slack. She is co-founder of Ladies Who Launch, a not-for-profit network that mentors and inspires women entrepreneurs and business owners.
Sarah grew up in Northern Ireland and graduated in Metallurgy, Economics, and Management from the University of Oxford before completing an MBA from Stanford University.
Adrian Doran:
Adrian is Head of Corporate Banking for Barclays in Northern Ireland. Before joining Barclays he trained as a chartered accountant with PwC specialising in corporate finance, and then spent four years in Bank of Ireland’s corporate banking team.
Outside of Barclays, Adrian is currently Chair of the CBI in Northern Ireland, and a member of Senate of Queen’s University Belfast.
