If you would like to explore what it takes to be an entrepreneur then this is your chance.

Have you ever wondered if you have what it takes?
If you have the spark?

Following a hugely successful pilot programme in summer 2019, we’re planning StEP Ignite. It’s a 4 week programme running over the holiday periods, 06-17 January 2020 and 16-27 March 2020. We provide training, mentors, workspace, endless coffee and all the support you need to take an idea from the drawing board to a real pitch in front of investors. Oh, and don’t worry about having a good idea, we have a selection for you to choose from University research projects.

StEP Ignite is a programme just for Oxford students. It has been developed by Oxford University Innovation (OUI) and supported by Oxford Sciences Innovation (OSI), The Oxford Foundry, and Oxentia.

And in case you’re wondering what it costs? It doesn’t! It’s fully funded and, better still, there is a stipend of £1,500 to cover living costs.

So here’s what it will look like. Week 1 & 2 we start with teambuilding and project selection. Then we get into training in the mornings and project work based on the training in the afternoons. We’ll cover everything you need to know.

During Hilary term you can do as much or as little as you and your team want to do. There’s no formal training, but we will be continuing to offer drop-ins to support you and the opportunity to meet some inspirational entrepreneurs who have trodden this path ahead of you.

When we reconvene formally in March, you’ll be focused on preparing to pitch your idea to investors. Up for grabs is an investment of £25,000 for the winning team and support from OSI to get this off the blocks.

This award will enable the successful team to put more time into their business venture after the programme concludes, bring in additional expertise, and work with OSI on putting a more substantial first round investment case together to start their new spinout.

And when the programme ends, OUI will support all the teams that want to continue. We’ll give you a hand setting up companies, chasing investment, building your minimum viable product (MVP) with a guaranteed place on the incubator programme.

All you need is a wide-open mind and the desire to make a difference to the world! We’ll supply the projects, the coffee and the Lego (ask last year’s cohort)!
