We’re pleased to present this meet-up in association with our sister meet-up OX:Agile – https://www.meetup.com/OXAGILE
Agile is mainstream nowadays. Everyone is doing it. But a lot of teams appear to be ‘doing Agile’ rather than ‘being agile’ and often obsess about what the “agile process” ought to be, seemingly forgetting the core agile value of “people over processes and tools”. While we hear a lot about velocity and story points, we don’t hear much about actual agility! It’s as if the current practices didn’t quite live up to the promised, wonderful agility of capital A Agile… so what’s going on here?
In this talk, I will give an overview of why this gap between agile and agility exists and explore what can do about it. I’ll look into how focusing on outcome rather than outputs can be a game changer for truly experiencing the agility you need, and how letting go of managing by output will free up the team to be more innovative and to focus on solving the business problem together.
From this, I’ll propose a few ideas, concepts and practices that we can apply in our software development endeavours. Be prepared though, this might be a little uncomfortable as I’ll be challenging some of the common received wisdom I often see.
